LOCAL PTA EXPERIENCE: Since first volunteering in the Bellevue Schools in 2004, I have served on the boards of the Bennett Elementary PTSA, the Stevenson Elementary PTA, and the International School PTSA, in positions as varied as Legislative Chair, Co-Treasurer, Membership Chair, President, Vice President, and Secretary.
DISTRICT LEVEL EXPERIENCE: On the district level, I served on the board of the Bellevue PTSA Council for years, including a year as Co-President. I have served on district committees under several superintendents, including the Gifted Parent Advisory Committee, the Leading with Equity Committee, and a Strategic Planning Committee.
AWARDS: I have received a Golden Acorn award for volunteerism from Stevenson Elementary, an Outstanding Service award from Bellevue PTSA Council, and the Gold Level Leadership Academy award from the Washington State PTA.
OCCUPATION: I am a mom, a PTSA Board Member, a former VIBES Academic Tutor in AP World History, and a former Software Developer for Fannie Mae in Washington DC. I have also taught first year college economics as an adjunct instructor at a small college in Indiana, and worked as a Product Manager for a small software start-up.
EDUCATION: My education includes a BA in Anthropology from SUNY Albany, a MBA in Finance from Indiana University, and further graduate work in Anthropology at American University in DC.
MY FAMILY: We moved to the Bellevue School District in 2000 from Maryland courtesy of Microsoft. I am originally from New York and grew up on Long Island. My husband has been very supportive of my volunteer work in the district, did extensive volunteering himself through the Microsoft/TEALS program in Computer Science, and is now a full-time high school computer science teacher outside of the district. We have one son who attended Bennett and Stevenson Elementary schools and graduated from the International School. He felt well prepared for college at Cornell University and is currently in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania.
